Car Wedding Cake

Talk about non-traditional wedding cakes! This bride and groom wanted to incorporate their baby into the wedding celebrations so we made their ‘Honda S2000’ into an edible centrepiece and unique wedding cake. We made the entire car edible – modelling chocolate wheels, fondant seats and car accessories, a gelatine lemonade flavoured windshield – and the rest is GF Choc Fudge cake!

To create the bridal theme, the car sits on top of sheets of light and fluffy Vanilla Bean Cake layered with Vanilla Bean Frosting. Airbrushed with a pearl sheen and decorated with a quilted pattern. And just to make sure we added ‘Just Married’ number plates and some rattling cans strung to the bumper.

Jeep Cake

Ain’t no mountain high, valley low or river wide enough for this cake! This hand made and decorated ‘Rice Krispie’ Jeep has conquered this wild cake terrain full of edible gel, melted chocolate, honeycomb and chocolate rocks and chocolate dirt!

If that’s not enough action we airbrushed this GF Choc Fudge Cake layered with Vanilla Bean Frosting and homemade Raspberry Coulis for extra depth and drama. And to make it extra special we based the Jeep off the customers who they dubbed ‘Wombat’! Action, chocolate, adventure and cake all in one mouthful!

Engagement Cupcakes

We created unique stamps of the couple´s initials which have been impressed into edible love heart and disc decorations. Peter Alexander Winter Confrence

Cozying up in a pair of pyjamas makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside…and so do cupcakes! MAD ABOUT CAKES was very proud to supply cupcakes to the annual ‘Peter Alexander Winter Conference’ held right in Melbourne! Alexander’s pyjamas are soft, gorgeous and floral – so matching cupcakes were in order!

Delicious gluten free chocolate fudge cupcakes with real vanilla bean frosting adorned guest tables at the event. Each cupcake was styled to complete the look of a hydrangea bunch with every flower air-brushed, hand crafted and finished with edible lustre dust to give the look of soft, beautiful and real flowers.

40th Music Birthday Cake!

sex, drugs, rock n roll…..and cake? MAD ABOUT CAKES latest creation is fresh from the oven and ready to rock! Lets begin with a decadent gluten free chocolate fudge cake, layered and covered with fresh vanilla bean frosting. To jazz up our latest ’40th Birthday Cake’ we added a musical twist to it!

MAD ABOUT CAKES turned your average number four into an acoustic guitar! The surface and sides of the cake have been etched and stained to mimic the look of real wood. Details such as the neck, bridge and decal around the sound hole have all been included to complete the look of an acoustic guitar.

What better way to represent the zero then with a snare drum! Every latch, peg and rim have been hand created to capture the small and fine details. We then carefully air-brushed the cake to give it that metallic finish and shine. To top it all off, we presented the cakes on a piano board creating the worlds greatest cake band!

Triple Celebration Cake

MAD ABOUT CAKES is kicking 2013 off with a bang! A triple bang that is! Our latest creation is a custom designed cake that combines one families wedding anniversary, 30th and 55th birthday all into one extraordinary cake!

The soccer field is a decadent gluten free sugared cherry chocolate fudge cake layered with a rich chocolate frosting (what a mouthful)! Coconut creates the grass texture whilst individually edible hand rolled blades of grass create a striking finish. What scrumptious cake do you think the bottom two tiers are made of? They are actually styrofoam dummy cakes! The middle tier is a minimalist wedding cake with hand piped pearls and a hand cut bride and groom silhouette that represents the couples ongoing love! The bottom tier is a leather travel suitcase that has seen its fair share of countries! Hand crafted, etched and painted to appear worn and torn from use with individually made stickers that add character and charm.

Styrofoam cakes allow customers to achieve the dramatic effect of tiered cakes, allow numerous themes to be represented in cake form and only consume the desired amount of cake. Its a win-win!
