MAD ABOUT CAKES had the absolute pleasure of working with a team of talented individuals on a styled rustic wedding shoot. MAD ABOUT CAKES of course supplied a two tier semi-naked cake. Layers of vanilla sponge, covered with frosting, but scrapped off just to expose areas of the cake. With beautiful flowers, we created a stunning arrangement and the cake matched the setting perfectly. Check out the shoot below plus the team of wonderful creatives!

Gingerbread Houses

A big Merry Christmas to all the MAD ABOUT CAKES fans and readers out there! This Christmas season was one of our busiest yet, our ovens are still cooling down and our elves are taking an indefinite nap, but we did have time to do a few Gingerbread Houses that are so pretty you might just want to live in them…then eat them!

Each house was of course built by hand and then decorated with intricate piping designs, fondant roof tiles and snowflakes and a healthy dose of pearl and silver cachous.

A gorgeous twist on the common Gingerbread House and a unique gift for friends and family!

Thank you for all your support and love in 2014 and can’t wait to continue baking and spreading the cake love in 2015!

Baby Shower Dessert Table

Did you know MAD ABOUT CAKES creates and styles Dessert Tables? This gorgeous set up was created for a Boy Baby Shower and was complete with a Cake, Cupcake, Cookies and Macarons all in the beautiful colour scheme of grey, teal, white and orange!

The cake was a Gluten Free Choc Fudge towering 7″ high covered with a chevron pattern and topped with a handmade elephant topper with a floating balloon! The cupcakes were Gluten Free Choc Fudge with Choc Mint and Caramel frosting and handmade fondant toppers. Macarons were Salted Caramel and Pistachio with little bow tie decorations and Cookie were Gluten Free Gingerbread elephants.

Every guest had a wide selection of goodies to taste and take home and MAD ABOUT CAKES supplied everything so the client didn’t have to lift a finger!

Spongebob Square Pants

Hey everyone! I want to introduce you to Spongebob Squarepants..the cake! He was MAD ABOUT CAKES entry into the Royal Melbourne Show’s Novelty Cake Decorating Competition and he came Second!  Spongebob stands over half a metre tall and is completely edible.

He is made mostly of cake, rice krispie treats, fondant and modelling chocolate and is completely hand decorated and crafted. To ensure Spongebob stood tall, an internal structure was created out of PVC pipe and drilled to the cake board. Who knew cake decorating could get so technical?
